Online registration is now closed.  Please register at the event.

Registration cut-off for Jack & Jill (Swing or Two-Step), Strictly Swing, Strictly Hustle and Couples Country Western is Friday, June 12th around 6:00 pm.  You can register at the door for only these divisions but Pro-Am (anything) is closed.

The Marriott has a few more rooms available.   First come, first serve.  You can call them directly at 407-851-9000.  When they are gone, that's it. 

Check to make sure your registration is correct!!!!

We are using the same floor that graces most of the Swing competitions on the circuit – R & C Masters’ Dance Floor

Social Dancing

There will be plenty of social dancing throughout the weekend. We are striving to have most competitions done by 10:00 pm so BOTH ballrooms will be free for social dancing. There will always be one ballroom dedicated to social dancing (at night) if the other has a competition going on.

Special Dance Contests

The Orange Blossom Dance Festival is proud to be the first event in Florida that was registered with the World Swing Dance Council. So that means POINTS!

Cash Prizes for Strictly Swing!

We will giving away Cash Prizes for the Strictly Swing Couples.  Don’t miss your chance to strut your stuff! 

We are offering Strictly Swing, Pro-Am Swing & WSDC Jack & Jill.

Once again we will be offering Pro-Am Swing Leader / Follower instead of Male / Female. You can dance in both Leader and Follower roles if you chose. There are some awesome ladies who can lead and great guys who follow like a dream! Here’s your chance to show your other skills in dancing.

Pro-Am Swing has 6 different divison for either Leader or Follower:

Novice (open to all ages), Novice (open to all ages), Intermediate (open to all ages), Advanced (open to all ages), Youth (must be 16 or younger - no levels) or Silver (must be 50 or older - no levels).   The Youth and Silver are age restricted no level restricted.  Newcomer, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced is level restricted not age restricted.  You can dance both an age division (if applicable) and a level division.   For example, a female over 50 can dance both Novice and Silver. 

Just Dance Competition

We will also be offering Just Dance – Two-Step, Night Club, Cha Cha & West Coast Swing. If you do all four you can compete for an overall placement. This division is for couples who don’t have a regular partner.

This division is for anyone who has either:

  1. Not competed before and wishes to get introduced to competitive dancing without all the rules.
  2. For anyone who HAS competed before in UCWDC or any other circuit - you cannot dance with your regular partner.

Novice:

  1. If you have never competed in competitive dancing.
  2. If you have competed in UCWDC Pro/Am Novice (Open or Age) or UCWDC Couples III (Open or Age).
  3. If you have competed in WSDC Novice level.

Intermediate:

  1. If you have competed in UCWDC Pro/Am Intermediate (Open or Age) or UCWDC Couples II (Open or Age).
  2. If you have competed in WSDC Intermediate level.

Advanced:

  1. If you have competed in UCWDC Pro/Am Advanced and/or Spotlight (Open or Age) or UCWDC Couples I (Open or Age).
  2. If you have competed in WSDC advanced level.

Rules:

  1. No lifts or drops.
  2. You do NOT need to wear boots or hats. Just come and dance.
  3. You can dance leader or follower.

If you love to hustle, grab your partner and come out and dance for prizes.

Pro-Am Hustle

As always, we will have Pro-Am Hustle. For Registration Cutoff Times, please refer to Registration.

Competitor Prizes

Everyone will get a certificate to hang up with your placements or medals for each division and dance.

UCWDC Competitors - (Couples, Pro-Am & Line) will get trophies plus 1st place (if 3 or more in division) Jackets, 2nd OBDF Merchandise (to be determined), 3rd OBDF Merchandise (to be determined).

Sunday Night Excursion

New for 2009 - Universal City Walk.  We are changing our Sunday Night Excursion to Universal Studio - City Walk because Disney is closing down Pleasure Island.  So make your plans to attend Sunday Night!  You've got the opportunity to have a great dinner (plenty of first-class restaurants to choose from) and dancing all night.  City Walk has everything you want!       

Wayne Bonham Spirit Award

As yall might know, my father passed away February 1, 2007.  He was a wonderful father, the best husband and a true friend to many.  He gave a tremendous amount of his time, love and money towards UCWDC and Swing dance events throughout the USA.  Each year we will announce our pick to the individual(s) who give above and beyond themselves to the Orange Blossom Dance Festival.  

The award was given to Lary Yorke for 2007. 

The award was given to John & Susan Hoffman for 2008.

Line Dance Competition

We will be using the new routines and music per the UCWDC music committee.

Apex Video

No Video taping is allowed in any ballroom or workshop room.  Instructors will be video taping their class material exclusively for our workshop video which you can purchase from Apex. 

You can purchase the workshop and / or Saturday Show.  Competitors, you can purchase your spotlight video as well.
